Alastair Stewart, Owner of Rivendell Care Services, explains his personal background and why Rivendell is so important to him:

I grew up in Fife as the eldest of five siblings. Our holidays were invariably spent with family, visiting my grandmother down in Gloucestershire and my Grandparents and Great Aunts and uncle in Perthshire. This is where I grew to enjoy and appreciate my time with them.

As an adult I trained as a Psychiatric Nurse and so began my career in Care. My career in care has had many facets, acute psychiatry, rehabilitation, drug and alcohol I even did a year in Brixton Prison as a Home Office Nurse.

I then returned to University to study Human Resource Management, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Service Management which then led me into Training and Development and Lecturing.

In 2007 I purchased Rivendell, with an inheritance from my grandparents, I wanted to invest in something that would have made them proud.

As a nurse I always wanted to do my best and support patients to achieve their best. It is an ethos I have brought to Rivendell and with the incredible team at the care home we are able to achieve a high standard of care for all our residents.
